SINTEMAR, a leading company in the field of design and construction of foundation and grouting systems for machinery, has taken part in the installation of the turbine and the generator in the Xina Solar One solar park at Podfadder in northwest South Africa.
Xina Solar One is located 700km north of Capetown and is near to KaXu Solar One solar park. They will each generate 100MW and together they make up the largest solar park complex in the southern hemisphere supplying electricity to 170.000 homes.

Abengoa, a Spanish multinational corporation, started working on projects in South Africa in 2014 when they built KaXu Solar One, where SINTEMAR was in charge of generator and turbine grouting. Abengoa, again counted on SINTEMAR during the construction of Xina Solar One for the installation of the generator and turbine which took place in July of this year. The park is due to start up in 2017.

The SINTEMAR team menbers from the bases of Spain and Mexico facilities helped on design and lay the grouting and anchoring system that meets the high dynamic requirements of the machines installed at Podfadder. The SINTEMA's team experience and know-how has guaranteed the success of the project by providing the required levelling and contact between the grouting and the dynamic machinery.
SINTEMAR has over 50 years’ experience in the use of epoxy grouts for the construction and regrouting of machinery foundations. On this occasion, the material chosen for the grouting of the generator and the turbine in the solar park has been Chockfast Red epoxy resin, due to its high compressive and tensile strengths and low exothermic peak when dealing with high air temperatures, as was the case in the South African desert.
